Florida Woman Fatally Shoots Home Intruder Who Broke Into Her Bedroom

Police say a Florida woman who was attacked in her bedroom while she was sleeping was able to fight back and kill her attacker.

Clearwater police stated that the victim woke up to find Justin Wright in her bedroom before he attacked her. Wright lived on the same street as the victim.

“She was able to reach out and call 911 during this attack, but the attack persisted,” Clearwater Police Chief Daniel Slaughter told reporters. “At which time, she was able to retrieve a gun that she had lawfully.”

Police stated that the woman fired a single shot.

While police said they were continuing to investigate, they said that the woman’s injuries were consistent with self-defense.

Slaughter told reporters that the investigation will likely take several weeks as they confirm whether the shooting was a justifiable homicide.
