  • The difference between totalitarian regimes and simple authoritarianism is that, totalitarian regimes not only force you into compliance, but also force you to think a certain way. Totalitarianism is complete when every sector of the economy is controlled and everything from religion, to school, to work, to what your allowed to eat drink, where you live, what you buy, the doctor you see, the drugs you take. Everything that can be controlled is whereas Authoritarian regimes do not typically force you to think a certain way but may force you to pay taxes.
