As title said, we're doing the two sticks version. This is a good drill/exercise to practice on to get in tune with your Hand-Eye coordination. The purpose is simple: wherever your strong hand goes, your weak hand follows. If you're a righty, your strong hand is your right hand, and vice-versa. Practical applications are limited, but it doesn't mean that it doesn't have any.
