In this second half of Zechariah, his prophecies alternate between describing Israel in victory and describing the results of their rebellion. So far, we have seen the coming of the humble shepherd king to shouts of acclamation and praise and a description of what the nation would experience when the king is on the throne. However, Zechariah went on to prophesy that Israel would reject this shepherd king. In these next chapters of Zechariah, his prophecies will turn once again to the description of God bringing victory to Israel. In the midst of that victory, Israel will recognize the shepherd king that they had rejected. As chapter thirteen ends, Zechariah reveals more about the rejection of the shepherd king.
