Zephaniah had warned the people of Judah that judgment was coming. Although they would look for deliverance from God similar to the deliverance they experienced at Passover when God took them out of Egypt, this time there would be no deliverance. They would instead experience God’s wrath. Zephaniah 1:18 NKJV 18 Neither their silver nor their gold Shall be able to deliver them In the day of the LORD'S wrath; But the whole land shall be devoured By the fire of His jealousy, For He will make speedy riddance Of all those who dwell in the land. Severe judgment was coming on the people and land of Judah. What hope was there for the people that God called His own? What would this day of the LORD bring to Judah and to the rest of the world?
