In our first teaching on Zechariah, we established that Zechariah’s eight visions that he experienced in one night form a chiasm that answers the dilemma posed by Haggai about how the uncleanness of the people will be removed, and what it meant for Zerubbabel to be restored as God’s signet. This dilemma is answered through Zechariah’s eight visions which are organized in a chiasm where the themes of the first four visions are repeated in reverse order in the second four visions. The central theme for all of the visions is found in the center of the chiasm which would be the fourth and fifth visions. What do these visions reveal about God cleansing His people and putting the Branch of David on the throne?
