A former regional leader of Taiwan, Ma Ying-jeou, who is currently in mainland China on a 12-day visit, has said that people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait are Chinese, calling for peace in the region. The visit comes at a time of high tensions on both sides of the strait. Meanwhile, Western media outlets have been portraying Beijing as an aggressor, only adding to the instability in the region
